Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students mirror the diversity found in New York City. They come from every background one can imagine. They are smart, funny and curious.
They have an innate sense of fairness and are surprisingly wise for their age.
I have great confidence in the future because of the past and current students I have met while teaching at my school. My students are insatiable readers (sometimes I catch them reading during class time) and with your help I can quench their thirst for reading.
My Project
By funding books (and some much needed book cases) for my Book Clubs and independent reading library, I hope continue to help my students to grow by exposing them to different points of view from every genre. Each year it is a struggle to replenish my classroom library, as books get lost, or too worn out to use. With your help, my students will have fresh choices and fresh books to use throughout this year and for year to come. We would greatly appreciate any help you can give in order to achieve this goal. As Margaret Fuller once said, "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader."
