New Books Are the Bomb! Part 2

Help me give my students "Alphabet Books", "Phonemic Awareness Books", and "Animal Rhymes Books" to help model reading patterns and teach the alphabet.

My Students

My Pre-K classroom is comprised of students ages 3-5 years old. All of my students have varying special needs. Several students are English Language Learners. These students come from Latin American countries. Most of the students have communication needs. Everyone in my classroom has strengths and uniqueness! We have the incredible opportunity to learn new things together and learn from each other.

Many of my students have a difficult time staying on task and transitioning from one activity to another.

I promote social skills and positive behavior management throughout our day. We celebrate the success of classmates, no matter how big or small!

Our school is located within a low-income housing neighborhood. Half of my class is eligible for the free or reduced lunch program. Three students live in multi-generational households.

My students love Biology! They love anything that moves and grows! We are always on the lookout for new bugs and caterpillars. We are proud of our new classroom fish and plants. Students love to harvest our vegetables and smell the herbs.

I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to motivate students in my very busy Pre-K classroom!

My Project

This project will teach both the pattern of reading and alphabet recognition. "Animal Rhymes Books" is a set of 6 books. Rhyming books help students guess the next word in the text and prepares students to make predictions as they read.

"Alphabet Books" is a set of 26 books highlighting one letter in each book for letter recognition and checking student understanding.

The set has colorful engaging pictures great for preschool students.

"Phonemic Awareness" set and "Alphabet Theme Books" set create exciting stories using every letter of the alphabet.

All these sets will help build our classroom library to increase learning and encourage the love of books!
