This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 4th through 7th graders who are excited to learn more about reading and math each day. I am an interventionist and serve the lowest-performing 4th-7th graders in both math and ELA. I additionally serve as an advisor for the girls 6th and 7th-grade advisories and have a group of girls focused on learning about self-reliance, life skills, and cooperative sports.
My kids are so excited to read this year and we want to offer engaging novels that foster a love for reading.
Our students deserve new and exciting texts for their independent reading. We want to expand the books offered in our school library this year. We have noticed that we are missing some books from new and popular series that we would like to be able to offer our kids.
My Project
These books will give my students a new variety of book series that we do not have in our school library. Some of these books are by authors our children already love and I believe all kids should have an opportunity to read them during independent reading. Some of these books have been specifically requested by students to be added to our library and others are new series that we think our kids would love.
With these new books, my students will have independent reading texts that excite and interest them.
Having these new books available will add to the love of reading that our school encourages and fosters.
