This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach second grade at an inner city school. My school receives 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students are excited to come to school and learn every day. They thrive on the support and love they get at school and it really makes a difference in their lives.
Our students come to school at least one year below grade level.
We have to work really hard to get them caught up. It really takes a village to raise a child.
My Project
My students love to read. They are always asking to go to our classroom library and read. I switched grade levels this year and most of my book are for older grades.
I am so happy they want to read but I need more books at their level.
The book cart and bins would allow me to separate the books by reading level. This would allow my students to find just the right book for them to read. The books are a combination of fiction and non fiction so there would be something that sparks an interest for every one.
