This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Digital and print copies of Junior Scholastic magazine will engage my students with relevant articles, enhance their understanding of current events, and improve their literacy and critical thinking skills. During a presidential election year, it will provide reliable sources, ensuring students learn from accurate and trustworthy information.

It is important for 8th grade social studies students to understand current events because it helps them develop informed opinions, fosters critical thinking, connects classroom learning to the real world, and prepares them for active citizenship.

Understanding current events will help my students engage in reading by making content relevant and interesting, fostering a habit of regular reading. It also enhances their critical thinking and analytical skills, better preparing them for high school coursework and discussions.
