They eagerly unpacked tools, examined the seed varieties, and immediately began asking thoughtful questions about how each item would be used. I have been looking for 3D shapes to use when I teach volume. 8th graders have to understand the volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. I will be using water to show that 3 cones will fill the cylinder given that they have the same circular base and same height. We will also explore the volume of a pyramid with the same water demonstration using the cube and pyramid shapes.\r\n\r\nI also received pencils. Even though having this basic school supply seems like an easy task, I still have several students on a daily basis who are not prepared. Now I can just give them a pencil so that work can begin. \r\n\r\nDue to health reasons, I do not have current photos of my students using the supplies. I will not return to the classroom until after the due date for this letter.
