With more and more technology companies coming to our area, students now, more than ever, need to learn more technology related skills. Currently, students have very little to no access to coding projects like this in middle school. This project will be a chance for students to work either at lunch and/or after school to learn and create coding projects. This is a chance for students to learn the basics of coding and how it applies in the real world. We will work through basics of coding and learn how to program LED lights, code buttons and buzzers to work properly, and create graphic interfaces. Students will be encouraged to work with partners to help troubleshoot problem and write code. In addition to coding, students will learn some of the basics of electricity and how it works by using a breadboard and wiring to properly hook up the LEDs, buttons, buzzers, and resistors correctly. My hope for this project is to have it be so successful that it can become a mainstream course for students in my middle school in the future.
