Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a KG-2nd grade special education teacher. My students are language impaired, intellectually disabled, sensory sensitive, and neurodiverse. I need these supplies like laminating sheets and Velcro to make visuals for my students to express themselves and understand other's language in the classroom. We use visuals all day in my classroom. I also make picture books more accessible with sentence strips and put them in sheet protectors and fasten them with book clips. In my classroom, we need mops to help clean the many messes we make using multi-sensory activities like painting. Using highly motivating, multi-sensory activities like painting helps my students with autism retain information in their learning style. To create a calm and relaxing environment, I have calm music and waterless diffusers with healing lavender and crisp peppermint smells. All of these supplies are used daily to ensure a welcoming and loving environment for my neurodiverse students.
