Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a Title I school in South Carolina where our motto is "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!" My students come from diverse backgrounds and all receive 100% free breakfast and lunch at school. Many come from homes where English is not spoken. Some family members come from countries where they were unable to receive an education.
My awesome students come to school eager to learn each day.
We work to ensure our learning is engaging, effective, and fun. I also recognize that, as a teacher, my job is to provide more than just academic knowledge to students. I strive to teach the whole child and make sure all of their needs are met daily.
My Project
Now that half of the school year is over, our class has found that we are running very low on several needed supplies! We need jumbo baggies, binder pockets, and clip boxes to help us organize some new literacy and math resources we have received recently. We also need rubber cement to safely affix new sight words to our Word Wall on our cabinets. We also have found that spinner games are a lot of fun for us since we are not allowed to play other games that require sharing materials due to Covid-19 regulations. Therefore, having a plastic math spinner for each student to keep in their Math Toolbox will enable them to spin away while keeping the germs at bay! Lastly, our classroom is feeling a little bare since we are socially-distancing, which has caused several pieces of furniture to need to be stored. We need to brighten our "school home" up a bit with some fun light strips! These will go around our bulletin boards, and the colors can be changed to match holidays, etc. The lights will even "pulse" to match music (We LOVE music in our classroom!)
These supplies would really help us reorganize our classroom, keep germs from being shared, and brighten up our classroom!
