This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am asking for a class set of headphones (plus some extra for when they inevitably break due to heavy use) and whiteboard markers. My students use headphones throughout the school year, to listen to their online/ adaptive lessons and on state testing. They can even speak their explanations onto our Desmos Assignments. Truthfully, I also would love to have headphones as a motivator for students to work independently, as students could earn the ability to use headphones to listen to music while they work on their own.

Students are owners of their learning in my classroom, and these materials further motivate and increase their independence.

My classroom relies heavily on individual whiteboards and markers are always running out of ink. Students feel more comfortable showing their work and making mistakes on whiteboards, which they can then transfer to their papers once they develop the confidence and fluency to work on a more permanent surface. I use individual whiteboards during my checks for understanding- students hold their whiteboards up and I am easily able to identify which students need additional support.
