My students need three Chromebook computers in order to increase their typing efficiency and ability to effectively present their own information and ideas, and so that they can digitally communicate with their peers, community, and world at large.
This project expired on March 14, 2017.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are enrolled in a rigorous International Baccalaureate program with an emphasis on dual language and community building. Students spend each day learning all core subjects in both Spanish and English.
The majority of students have been together since Kindergarten, which creates a unique learning environment full of creative independent thought and valuable classroom discussions.
This class is now beginning the transition to middle school which means new friends, teachers, academic expectations and various unknowns. For many, this is an exciting time, but for others it represents a challenging transition.
Our hope as teachers is that we have provided our students with the necessary skills and foundational knowledge to solve global and community problems. While this classroom is progressing daily, it is important to maintain, encourage, and facilitate learning experiences in a variety of contexts, which is why I am in need of additional support.
Students will be researching, producing and presenting information regarding natural and man-made disasters and the various ways technology and community affect the preparedness and response of such detrimental impacts.
Students will be focusing on disasters throughout the world, both recent and historical, while analyzing the outcomes and possible solutions to some of the world's most powerful natural disasters.
To do this, students need up-to-date information as well as the necessary tools to engage in research and presentation of information, and most importantly, understand the ways the global community can prepare for these difficult catastrophes, both natural and human caused.
Research and writing skills are invaluable in today's world! With all of the misinformation on the Internet, it is important to teach and facilitate appropriate research skills in order for tomorrow's leaders to engage and understand the world around them. Of course, students also need to communicate their ideas and research via a variety of methods, which is why it is highly important to have the three requested Chromebook computers within the classroom. Finally, the expectations of these students are great, and with your help we can make tomorrow a better place for all!
