My Project

Young children are naturally inquisitive and curious about the world in which they live. My students are no exception. The world globe, the nonfiction science project resource and high interest readers I have selected for this project are the perfect introduction for my first grade students to the amazing natural resources found here on Earth. The nonfiction books selected contain breathtaking photos that are accompanied by “just right” text in a format that will allow my beginning readers to independently gain important information and appreciation for the natural world. Multiple copies of the same titles have been selected to foster reading independence and partnerships, as well as small group participation and knowledge building in the classroom. It is my goal to begin to lay the groundwork for a more environmentally informed generation.
