The children are learning so much about the world around them, as well as them selves. I love hearing them reading along with the digital reader. Their discussions around topics are amazingly deep for six and seven year olds! This is all a result of your generosity. Many students cannot afford headphones that don't break the minute they are taken out of the package. They don't cancel classroom noise during testing. I used the money to purchase 18 noise canceling headphones. Sometimes it's one-on-one, where I find myself sitting quietly with a student who's having a tough day and just letting the story offer comfort or connection. Other times, it's a small group exploring themes like friendship or perseverance, using characters as a starting point to talk about other struggles students might be having. The Kindness books and Little Spot of Emotions box set are wonderful tools to help spark group discussions where students can reflect and learn from each other. Students who struggle with managing conflicts with others are able to use the Match-Ups cards as a hands-on activity to help visualize cause and effect. These materials are resources used to help students develop skills they need to become successful in their everyday lives. All of which was possible due to your generosity.
