This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Native American students are unique, visual, and intuitive. They perform better to culturally responsive teaching and they love to work in cooperative teams. Technology has opened a window for them to explore and go beyond the boundaries of their beautiful landscape at the reservation.

This past school year proved to be very successful implementing a project-based/problem-solving STEAM class where students where able to learn Common Core Standards and create hands-on projects.

My students are very creative and insightful and I was delighted that this teaching approach addressed the different learning styles represented in my classroom.

In addition, their geographical isolation has made them more reflective about the world around them. I want to offer them the best classroom environment to quench their curiosity and develop their STEAM projects in a more comfortable atmosphere.

My Project

I want to offer my Native American students a variety of STEM kits to explore and design Solar Ovens, Tin Can Robots, and analyze Weather Stations etc....

These are jump start projects to get them involved later in more complicated STEM activities.

I think 4M has affordable Green Science kits that will pique my students' curiosity to work in cooperative groups and develop those essential critical thinking skills. The 21st century requires students who are able to analyze in depth, become innovators, and mainly having the initiative to build, design, and create. My students will have great learning opportunities with these sets.
