Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing eleven- to thirteen-year-olds who spend their time in class pushing the limits of their brains. They are not predisposed to education coming first. Typically, they are the first to graduate high school in their family. They almost all qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and some of them are the family caregiver for the majority of the day, but they still come to school and give it their best. But, the goal is that someday in the not-so-far-off future, they will go to college, and even though that may be six years from now, it's never too soon to start practicing and honing in on academic abilities.
My Project
Over the last 14 years, I have poured my heart and soul into teaching. My students are my life; they are an extension of my own family. While teaching, I've often challenged myself but also my students to ask themselves "How can you rise to the next level? How can you improve from where you are now?"
National Board Teaching Certification is my opportunity to be the very best I can be.
The materials requested here, 2 books and a tripod to record me teaching students, are necessary to achieve National Board Certification. In my quest to become a better teacher, to become Nationally Board Certified, I know that it's not just me, but my students that will be rewarded by the outcome.
Students will gain knowledge firsthand and directly benefit from the experiences I gain through the National Board certification process.
