My Project

I am continually seeking out opportunities to refine my craft and to learn sustainable strategies that will equip me to better serve my students, which is why I am pursuing a National Board certification.

The National Board Certification process will advance my skills and the quality of my teaching.

The certification, created by teachers for teachers, develops my skills around their Five Core Propositions, which include teacher commitment, subject knowledge, managing, and monitoring student learning, reflecting systematically, and collaborating in learning communities.

Research has shown that Board-certified teachers have a direct impact on students' learning. The positive impact is even greater for low-income and BIPOC students. According to the National Board website, "91% of teachers engaging with the National Board standards reported that it had a direct impact on their instructional practices. These shifts include adjusting lesson plans and to meet the needs of individual students, using data in new ways to assess student progress and learning goals, and deepening their content knowledge."
