This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Pursuing National Board Certification in English as a New Language will help me grow as an educator by strengthening my ability to design instruction that meets the diverse linguistic and cultural needs of my newcomer students. Through this process, I will deepen my understanding of how to integrate language and content, use assessment to guide learning, and create a classroom environment that values students’ backgrounds and voices.

I will apply what I learn by planning more intentional lessons, collaborating with colleagues to support language development, and reflecting on how my teaching impacts student growth.

My students will benefit from clearer instruction, more opportunities to practice meaningful communication, and a stronger sense of belonging as English learners. This certification represents my ongoing commitment to continuous learning and to helping newcomers succeed academically and socially.
