My Students

I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM based chemistry and biology labs involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.

The students appreciate the opportunity to use the STEM lab equipment because it allows them to use technology while collaborating and using critical thinking to produce results which help prepare them for the future.

My Project

For years, I have thought of different ways to get students interested in studying tissue slides using a microscope and getting them to remember each slide. Now, I have been fortunate to have amazing STEM technology that allows students to connect digital images to reliable microscopes. The students will be taking pictures of the slides with the images and print out each of them to show their parents and teach them the structure and function of each tissue. The problem now is that we need the human tissue slides for the students to take pictures of in order to teach their parents.

My students would benefit greatly from using quality human tissue slides which will make learning anatomy fun!

If we had four sets of tissue slides, then my students can use the digital images to take 15 high resolution photos, print them out, then teach their parents each of them. Finally, students are required to produce a quiz for the parents to take and then grade their performances!
