I currently teach first grade at a Title 1, Magnet School for the Arts and Humanities, public school in Brooklyn, NY. Many of our students come from low income families, and are not exposed to much.

My students love doing yoga. We have been doing yoga for gym, but my students don't have mats. This does not cause optimal results. We have been practicing yoga on the bare floor. My students would benefit greatly from having official yoga mats. We use the yoga mats to focus our energy before tests, learn how to manage school and everyday stress, and exercise and stretch our body, mind, and spirit.

Having correct yoga mats will allow us to do more advance yoga moves. It will also increase student excitement because they will feel like they are important if they have their own classroom mat.

Your help will ensure that my students learn to manage stress while keeping in shape. Because both of these qualities will help students improve their academic abilities, your help would greatly improve my students' performance.
