There is no better reward than getting to be part of all of their lives.
I love every minute of teaching and learning with them! With nearly 70% of my students coming from homes that qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches, getting them to think about Language Arts can be challenging, but my kids are willing to trust me and start the learning process every day to help ensure that love and desire to learn. I want them to be able to take it with them as they grow and enter the world. I am teaching the future and I know it will be bright.
My Project
At the beginning of the year, my students are going to be solving mysteries and proving their case with cold, hard, evidence! The materials that I need will supply them with a crime scene, a passage about what happened to the victims, and allow them to find the best evidence, and explain their thinking. This is a hard skill for 6th graders, but after this lesson, they will better understanding of what is going on!
This lesson is so engaging and it's amazing to watch them work!
Argumentative writing allows the students to be passionate about content and leads to meaningful debate and discussion. I can not wait to get new materials to encompass both my online students and my traditional students.
