Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a school where over 90% of my students are living in poverty and are eligible for free or reduced priced lunch. My students range in different levels in reading. Some levels include: on grade level, below grade level, far below level and English Language learners (Emergent Readers). With so many levels in my classroom, I am always thinking of ways to differentiate instruction for all students to succeed in reading.

Living under the poverty line is one struggle I cannot eradicate from my students' lives but as a teacher I am 100% dedicated to their educational success.

My Project

Teaching 4th grade in a new school is exciting and challenging. Our small school has very limited resources and my students are the ones who are suffering. I try extremely hard to provide as much as I can for the classroom but I need help. The Magic Treehouse collection, 39 Clues, Judy Blume, Goosebumps set, and James and the Giant Peach are books I've completely enjoyed and I would like to share this love with all the students in my classroom. These classic books, I think, are extremely important and my students deserve to have access to classics to promote a love for reading.
