Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Have you ever had a sense of exclusion or belonging? It is common for students to feel this way in fifth grade because it is a year of growth and discovery for them. But, there is a way to make every one of my students feel like they are a part of a team and something unique!

My students are a group of energetic, good-natured kids that work hard and don't allow their situations to bring them down.

My students have surpassed all expectations since they attend a Title I school where 97.5% of the students are classified as living in poverty. For some of my students, school is a safe haven, a place to get away from the hardships they face at home. For others, a school is a place for them to shine. We have many students who excel at academics and they are able to really grow and succeed at school, surrounded by teachers and faculty who care. We also have students who excel creatively because we allow them to express themselves in various ways.

My project

I humbly request a class set of T-shirts for my children to wear throughout the warmer months.

These T-shirts will allow my students to feel a sense of equality that will reinforce our teamwork mentality. I want my students to feel like they are a part of a special group of scholars who excel in even the most trying circumstances. I want them to look at their classmates, see them wearing the same T-shirts and realize that they belong and that without them, we would not be complete.

My 5th-grade students will be so proud to wear these T-shirts and show them off to everyone they know!
