This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school serves one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods on the west side of Chicago. Over 90% receives free or reduced lunch. My students go through so much, just to get to school, and unfortunately, many of them bring these issues to school with them. So when they enter my classroom, the atmosphere is set for loving and learning! My passion for engaging them and expanding their minds regarding science is infectious. They love to read and explore through the conduits of STEM. Ultimately allowing them to briefly escape their turbulent reality, and enter my Science World!
My Project
Science is more than a subject in school; it's an approach to the world! I want my students to get the most out of their science curriculum and with these computers for the classroom, they will have that opportunity. Instead of simply going to the lab and having STEM by just reading, I want to fully engage them. I will be able to provide my students with another option for them to explore science through the use of apps, virtual labs, independent work, and group work. In order for them to become GLOBALLY competitive, they have to become technologically astute in STEM. Help me to provide them with the tools they need.
