My Project

I am a speech therapist working in an elementary school with a caseload of 50 amazing students with various communication abilities, including verbal, limited verbal, and nonverbal communicators. An interactive whiteboard will help me to create engaging sessions for all of my students. Last year some of the self-contained classrooms had the amazing opportunity to receive Promethean Boards and I was able to see how engaged and excited the students were in the lessons.

Right now, if I were to use boom cards or other digital activities, all of my students would need to gather around an iPad or laptop, which is challenging to say the least.

My goals for this project are to be able to differentiate my sessions for my different types of learners/communicators. Some of my students are able to read and others require visual supports. All of my students will be able to respond using the touch screen, regardless of their communication abilities.

The Promethean board will make a significant difference in my students' learning. I can create and project digital materials to specifically address each student's individual speech goals and adjust the required responses to enable each student to respond more independently. In summary, I feel that these materials will add an additional element to my sessions to support the progress of all of my students and really enable them to engage in the sessions and achieve their speech goals.
