Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a school where 54% are English Language Learners and 93% qualify for free or reduced lunch. With students coming from different walks of life, diversity has become the school’s strength.
Every morning, my 24 first graders come to school eager, enthusiastic, and ready to learn.
With an “I think I can” attitude, these anxious six-year-old students are extremely open and receptive to all new learning taking place in class. At the end of the day, they feel proud of what they had accomplished. My striving Rockstar scholars deserve the best, so they can achieve their dreams.
My Project
This is the time of the year where flu knocks on everyone’s door. Our little scholars are not spared. Their little runny noses need to be wiped with something besides clothing.
With the budget crisis that our school district is dealing with, there has been a pretty major limit on what supplies we can request.
To help every scholar stay healthy, and to keep the germs from spreading, I want to make sure that there is always tissue and paper towels available in the classroom for students. These supplies will be distributed across all of the classrooms at my school, to make sure that every student has access to a healthy learning environment.
