The best word to describe my school is "family". Visitors often comment that when they arrive at our school, they feel like they are being welcomed into a family. The atmosphere is warm and upbeat. Within each classroom, every teacher strives to create a class family where students care about each other and work together to learn.
My students are enthusiastic, eager learners.
They are five and six year olds who are just starting their school experience and they love to learn. Kindergarten is an exciting time for them! They range in ability from struggling to learn sounds to being fluent readers. The students in my class are ethnically diverse. Six different languages are spoken in the homes of my students. The families of my students are very supportive and are always willing to go the extra mile to help their children.
My Project
Art offers children a way to express themselves while working on their fine motor skills at the same time. Plus, kindergartners love art. However, right now my students have to place their finished paintings on the ground because there is no other place to dry their paintings. Having a drying rack in the classroom would enable my students' art to dry completely and stay safe from ruin. Space is limited in our classroom and this particular drying rack will fit on a counter in the back of the room. It will be low enough for students to access and thus be responsible for their own art. Hurrah for responsibility. My students also need a way to access construction paper. The paper storage center will make it easy for students to select and use paper for their art projects.
Your support will allow my students to be organized, responsible artists.
