My Kids Need Wellness Wipes and Supplies

My Students

My students attend school in one of the most multicultural districts in the United States and many of them are English Language Learners who have recently arrived in this country. All of my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch, but we are not a Title I school and as a result, we lack the resources and opportunities of many other schools. Many of my students are deemed at-risk. Nine of them are over 1.5 years below grade level. They all want to learn and they work very hard.

I teach first grade at an older, urban school where many of my students are the children of deployed military personnel.

Many of my students do not have money for basic supplies, but that doesn't stop them from trying to learn everything they can. I may teach students who are struggling, but they all want to learn because they want to be successful.

My kids are the most wonderful kids in the world, and school is everything to them.

My Project

My first graders need help. Currently, because of crowded conditions, my students work at desks that are grouped closely together to form tables. This makes it very hard for students to concentrate. I have tried everything I can think of to change the room but I do not have space.

My students need wipes and tissues as well as portfolio folders for their homework.

A few, simple supplies can make a big change in our classroom climate. My kids will use the folders to stay organized if they are homesick and the tissues and wipes to stay clean and healthy while in school.

I have no money for these luxuries. I need the help of donors. Our district is facing a very difficult funding shortfall, and we have been told there is absolutely no money for additional supplies so I am asking for these basic supplies so my kids can keep working.

I am desperate. Please help my kids.
