My Future Teachers Need a Document Camera

My Students

I teach an incredible group of 7th-grade students who are very special to me. My classes are culturally diverse, which makes for rich conversations and lasting friendships. My students enjoy learning through hands-on activities, games, and projects that are both creative and challenging. Even though they may struggle at times, they are motivated to succeed.

As a Title I school, most of my students live in high poverty and it affects them greatly both inside and outside the classroom.

Although my students face many challenges, they do not allow their situations to determine their futures. I admire them greatly for their determination to succeed. My students amaze me every day inside and outside the classroom, and I am so proud of them!

My Project

My students love to show off their work to the entire class. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, my students are no longer able to come up and do their work on the Promethean board to showcase what they have learned. This has been a struggle for my students this year because they love to help their peers while becoming "future teachers" up at the Promethean board.

With a document camera, my students can showcase their work clearly on the Promethean board in order to explain their processes, receive important feedback and encouragement from their peers while still following Covid-19 guidelines.

The document camera will also encourage students to collaborate and verbalize appropriate mathematical vocabulary within the classroom setting.
