This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My own beloved easel of 8 years is falling apart. It recently became lopsided as one of the four metal rods pushed through it’s bottom plastic caster. It is an expensive item but an important one as well as the only item included in this project and cart. This is because my easel is the center piece of my classroom and the main teaching attraction throughout the day.

As students gather on the rug, they gain focus and come together, they learn to ask and answer questions as they develop academic and social emotional language as well learn the English language.

Many of our multi-language learners participate when the easel is part of the lesson. They interact in shared and interactive reading and writing, fill in missing letter sounds and words during our morning meeting, but most of all, they develop the ability to show their thinking and make connections to their learning and each other.
