This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

WMS is full of world-class students. These students come to school every day with great attitudes and growth mindsets. Our students perform, progress and persevere even in the face of financial insecurity and an assortment of family and community barriers. Your gifts will be appreciated and will go along way to providing support for current and future leaders in our schools and abroad.

This DonorsChoose projectis being written for the band department at Wagner MS.

The band department has 210 students and growing. These students combine to play over 20 concerts a year and bring beauty and a sense of family to our campus.

My Project

The Wick Mutes will allow our students to play a more diverse and rigorous set of music. The mutes will help them grow musically, identify tuning issues with new musical devices, and continue growing into better musicians.

Allowing students the opportunity to use the appropriate tools gives them more opportunites to learn and grow musically.

Experimenting with mutes will also allow students to reach more of their educational goals by teaching them about different timbres and balancing, blending and tuning in different musical scenarios. We will use them at all concerts as well as allow our 1st year players an opportunity to experiement with them. We can also use them in the science classes to talk about sound waves and vabrations.
