The Wick Mutes will allow our students to play a more diverse and rigorous set of music. The mutes will help them grow musically, identify tuning issues with new musical devices, and continue growing into better musicians. Allowing students the opportunity to use the appropriate tools gives them more opportunites to learn and grow musically. Experimenting with mutes will also allow students to reach more of their educational goals by teaching them about different timbres and balancing, blending and tuning in different musical scenarios. We will use them at all concerts as well as allow our 1st year players an opportunity to experiement with them. We can also use them in the science classes to talk about sound waves and vabrations.
