My students need instruments and supplies to support the growing demand of students who are trying to join the band program. Every year there are multiple children who can not join band due to lack of instruments.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a very talented group of students who love academics as well as their extracurricular activities. The students work very hard to achieve and maintain their grades while having a very successful sports life. The students participate in multiple extracurricular activities throughout the year. The students in our school participate in year round band, football, basketball, and baseball.
The majority of the students come from low income homes and must walk through unsafe neighborhoods to get to school.
This does not stop our students from coming to school with a smile on their face ready to learn in a safe environment.
My Project
The instruments and supplies that are being requested are going to students with a strong desire to play music. The students come from low income houses that can't afford to buy their own reeds or valve oil to make sure their instruments work properly. The students can't afford to rent instruments of their own so we try and make as many instruments available as possible.
These instruments will help support the growing number of students who would like to join band but can not due to lack of instruments.
Our goal is to one day have all the students in middle join band.
