My students are trying to keep concert band and music-making alive in the Appalachian mountain coalfields! Our middle/high school is comprised of students in a geographically isolated, rural area, but which is also a place of rich cultural tradition and a proud heritage!
These children, from the mountains and hollows of Eastern Kentucky, are in need of the tools of their trade in order to become a part of our great American concert band tradition, and for that we need you!
My Project
A kit of supplies will enable me to make on-the-spot minor repairs to musical instruments and will keep instruments in kids hands when they inevitable have problems. Students in my classroom would otherwise have to send their instruments to a repair shop three hours away and wait for nearly a month when this repair kit would allow me to make simple repairs within our classroom here at home. The music technique books requested are textbooks to improve musicians' performance fast!
All of these items would assist us in our efforts to build the best band possible for the children of the Band Program!
