This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After a year of having no music teacher, the students deserve a fully funded music room! We need music instruments! Xylophones, mallets, Boomwhackers, ukuleles, guitars and keyboards... help! We will be getting a few ukuleles and a couple of keyboards from LKR.org but we would love to have an instrument in every child’s hands! Our students are 96% low income and approximately 60% English as a second language learners. Students will get to come to music at least once a week.

My Project

Having instruments in the music room is essential to students learning music. Without them, my students will be missing a core part of their education. I’m excited to be given the opportunity to build up a strong music program, and I know that my students will be excited and ready to learn how to play. In a world where testing is all most teachers can focus on, I am in the unique business of reaching students in a completely different way! I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when we get to use those instruments for the first time! My students need new ukuleles and keyboards to learn, play and create music.
