This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I Renaissance Elementary School with mostly Hispanic students on free and/or reduced-price lunch but you would never know it by looking at our test scores. Our school continues to be an "A" school year after year and our students continue to break records despite their socioeconomic status. In my opinion, the recipe for their success is encouragement, love, and support. They have the support of their teachers, family and most of all friends. However, this support only goes so far. Unfortunately,​ due to a lack of funding and a practically non-existent PTA budget, the school is in need of financial assistance to support certain necessary projects.

My Project

All of the chairs in our elementary music room have broken, and due to district budget cuts, it is too costly to replace them. Now my students are resigned to sit on the floor. Because of this, it is difficult to give assigned seats, which makes classroom management quite the challenge.

We need brand new stackable chairs so our students will have a place to sit.

When they enter the room, they can go directly to their assigned seats as opposed to just choosing any spot on the floor. These new chairs will give them a designated space and help to make their musical experience a more comfortable one!
