My Students

The students at our charter school are special. They come to us for a variety of reasons -- maybe traditional school wasn't working for them, maybe they're interested in pushing beyond the boundaries of a traditional school, or maybe they're seeking more social-emotional connection. Either way, our school has become a place where we see our deep philosophy about how kids learn best put into practice every day.

Our students learn with their hands, no matter what it is they're exploring.

They are inquisitive and excited to learn. They are musical, but have no formal way of expressing it.

My Project

We know the research proves the importance of music instruction in schools. We're currently trying to expose our students to music through informal education online and making rhythm with whatever we can find. However, as a K-8 school, we know that exposure to instruments would benefit our students even more. We want to begin teaching music as a part of our regular curriculum, much like we do Art and Physical Education. Our Spanish teacher also uses music daily to help his students practice learning their new language.

All kids can benefit from participating in music, and we want to bring that to our students.

We have a dedicated staff that is ready to take on this adventure, we just need the supplies! Thank you for whatever you can give us!
