The 21st century has arrived, and we are bringing the newest and best technology into the classroom and into the hands of the students. We have two classroom iPods and students use them in groups and individually for various projects. A speaker system will allow us to hook up our iPods.
I teach 32 students in a public school in Southern California.
We have a very diverse population of students, both in nationality as well as economically. We serve students from Title 1, all the way up to a having a large gifted population. We have a high parent involvement population as well.
The iPod speaker system will be integrated into many areas of our curriculum. We will be able to listen to Mozart and Gershwin while having art lessons. During our Native American unit, we will listen to music of the Native American tribes of our area. We will also use the music for transition times. Various musical clips play at certain times of the day and signify to the students that it is time to clean up, transition to lunch, etc.
This project will enhance many areas of our curriculum.
Music is a vital part of our lives, and every child, regardless of their economic standing or ethnicity, can relate to and appreciate music. Help me enrich their lives with the sound of music!
