It is a middle school that has a small vocal music program that I am now in charge of as of September 2019. The students I teach have a general love for music and really want to do things that have never been done before and are more pop music related. The students of my vocal groups enjoy the fact that I play guitar and I am very nontraditional compared to other teachers. The students that I usually see throughout a school year are a mix of families that have little to nothing all the way up to having a lot.
My Project
I am a music teacher that usually does things that are not the normal. I pride myself on teaching things like History of Rock, History of Rap and my vocal ensembles also do things that are different. Instead of doing the usually piano/choral approach, I use my skills as a guitarist and do things that way. However, recently my cheap guitar broke and now I am in desperate need of a new one that will not easily break.
My concerts usually consist of hits from the 80s, 90s and current hits in the genres of Rock and Pop.
This year my entire concert will be centered around a guitar accompaniment and I am working with my students to come up with other parts using their talents. As you may see, the guitar is at the center of everything I do. Most teachers use the piano but I choose to use the guitar instead. Please help!
