My students need good quality, working music stands that will stay up and allow students to perform with correct posture and playing positions.

My Students

We are a large, urban, Title One school in which 81% of the student body is eligible for free and reduced lunch. Each class has a range of students, from 9th through 12th grade, who come from varying backgrounds and ethnicities. Even with their differences and personal challenges and struggles, we all come together to share in the same goal: to make music.

My students are passionate about music and love to play.

Whether it is band or orchestra, they bring their best to class and inspire me to be better. As our music program continues to grow and flourish, we are in need of quality, working equipment necessary to perform.

My Project

We are requesting new Manhasset music stands for the band and orchestra room. Our current music stands are older than many of the students who use them, and more than 50% of our stands no longer stay up. When students use broken stands to play their music, they often have to contort their bodies so they can play and read the music.

Having proper working music stands means students can play their instrument with correct posture and hand placement while still being able to read the music and see the conductor.

With correct posture, students are able to breathe and use their air correctly, allowing them to produce the desired sound on their instrument.
