My Students

My Pre-K students come from low-income families. The majority are bilingual in every sense of the word. They live in the south Bronx, New York City. Private music lessons are not in the budgets of our families. Therefore as the music teacher this year I’m making it my goal to bring instruments into the lives of the children.

My students are creative, enthusiastic, energetic and curious learners.

The children foster their friendships with kind words and sharing the materials in our classroom.

My Project

Music can change the world one child at a time. My goal is to introduce a variety of music from different cultures. I want to increase the children’s capacity to understand other children. My project helps me to collaborate with other teachers to increase the children’s literacy, problem solving and creative skills through music. It gives children tools to manage stress in a positive way. I am challenging children to work together to create something beautiful in a world that isn’t always kind. The Instruments purchased for this project will increase fine motor skills and build confidence in the children as they master musical curriculum.
