Help me give my students basics for our music classroom, including a new djembe, some pitched percussion items, various hand puppets, and batteries for our sound system's microphone.
Our school is a really special place. All students in town attend this school from PreK all the way until 8th grade. Our school’s music curriculum is comprised of general music for grades PreK-6 as well as both band and chorus for grades 4-8.
I am noticing a need for some additional instruments in my classroom.
A new djembe would help my students practice the techniques we learn in our African Drumming unit on a more authentic instrument compared to our classroom set of tubano drums. The extra Orff mallets would allow some students to share a xylophone or metallophone when needed. The percussion slapstick would be perfect for making elementary storybooks come to life with a dramatic sound effect, and the fresh new set of boomwhackers would be much more in tune than the very loved ones we currently own.
In addition, I am requesting various knick-knacks that will help in the day-to-day of music teaching, including batteries for our sound system's microphone, a few classroom storage solutions, and some hand puppets that will be perfect for encouraging my youngest students to sing.
