My students are always excited and eager to learn. I love arriving to class each day, seeing the bright shining faces ready for school. This is where I get my motivation and excitement for teaching students about music each day. Even though our school is located in a low socioeconomic area and many of our students are not exposed to music and the arts, my students always surprise me with their excitement to learn and grow throughout the school year.
As my music students continue learning and discovering, I know this project will increase my students' musical skills, namely on piano and keyboards. Students will be able to explore beats and melodies with the features of this instrument.
In the small group settings, I am able to help students with specific keyboard techniques (posture, hand position, and ear training) as well as to help them to explore their own musical expression.
Learning new material in music class and building a music foundation is definitely a teacher's primary goal. Through discovery and exploration, the students learn to create fun songs on the keyboard and showcase them in class. It's great to see how students want to share their accomplishments with everyone, including other teachers. As a music teacher, to see the daily growth of a student and how much students enjoy music always is awesome.
