My Project

My students love to come to music class and learn music but also they love hearing me read a story to them. Each class I read a different story about music, composers, instruments, character traits, and so much more. This gives me the opportunity to encourage a love for reading.

Some books we actually do some drawing and writing activities.

Students get to see that reading is valuable in each subject. We also have many discussions about the characters and things in the book.

The best thing has been when students feel confident enough to ask to read a story to their class. Sometimes it is a shy student who does not say much, a new student learning the language, or a student challenging themselves to improve their reading.

The students at my school are struggling with reading and getting more books and spending time reading is my part in helping our students succeed. I also enjoy the excitement when I announce a new book and show them pictures and read it to them. I want to show my students as many books as possible to inspire an interest in reading that will carry them through the rest of their lives.
