My students need 5 acoustic guitars to play beautiful music.

My Students

Enrich the life of a child though sponsoring their Musical experience. We need to buy more acoustic guitars for 15 to 20 students who love music to borrow.

We are an elementary school in urban southern California and even though we are blessed with a beautiful state, many of our children do not get a chance to experience or go out, instead they are left at home with few enriching activities besides watching T.V.

or playing those dreaded video games. Their faces light up when they are in my guitar class which is free of charge as long as they are courteous students. They look so happy when they get to take an instrument home for the week, I wish to provide more students with this opportunity.

My Project

I am a school teacher who every Thursday and Friday after school has decided to teach classical guitar and ethnic mandolin class to elementary school children. With time these free classes have grown popular with time and can no longer accommodate more students due to instrument deterioration and greater volume of prospective guitar students. In this class students learn the basics of playing acoustic guitars as well as the study music of all backgrounds from the blues to Latin American to classical. We hold performances at the end of the school year for the enjoyment and fulfillment of our students and parents. We are requesting 5 more acoustic guitars for my students.

Learning music has been proven to improve test scores and mathematical ability.

Performing music in front of their peers does wonders for their self esteem and will help in developing confidence needed to be a successful member of society not to mention the cultural enrichment they will be subjected to.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
