My Students

My school is amazing. We are a tight-knit community of educators who work hard to help support all kids. Our school serves a community with a lot of socioeconomic needs.

My students work hard every day to grow their brains and hearts.

They are movers, risk-takers, mistake-lovers, and friendship makers. We emphasize a growth mindset that allows kids to see mistakes as important and necessary part of learning!

Many of our students come from high-poverty. We are a semi-rural community in Southern Oregon.

My Project

My students love listening to music throughout the day. Music has been shown to have all sorts of beneficial impacts on learning, cognition, and emotional well being.

In our class, we listen to upbeat music as we transition to the carpet and do indoor exercises, calm music as we work on writing and reading, and uplifting music to start and end our day.

Currently we are using a very old speaker that I brought into the classroom from my home. It’s time for an upgrade! My students love having music part of their day and a new speaker would make them very happy.
