My Project

I am requesting Boomwhackers, buckets, mallets, yoga balls, and an outdoor musical center for use in our outdoor classroom. These materials will provide students a means to interact with sound by tapping on the Boomwhackers and interacting with the drums and spinner included in the outdoor musical center. The buckets will provide a dual purpose, one being to hold the Boomwhackers, and the other being to create a quiet drum by placing the yoga ball on top and tapping with the mallets. This not only provides a musical outlet, but a physical one as well.

Studies have shown that making music, especially tapping, clapping, bouncing, and dancing develops fine and large muscle control, as well as meeting the need for self-expression by giving the child an outlet for expressing feelings and emotions.

My diverse group of students can benefit from musical expression and will enjoy the stress release that music can offer them.
