My Students

My students are Pre-K-2 students with disabilities. Many of my students have autism and are speech and language delayed. My Pre-K students are just so adorable, smart, and loving. They are capable of so much. I always say look at what the can do not what they can not do. Many students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, with a wide range of academic abilities.

My Project

I have witnessed first hand what music does for children with special needs. Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor skills, and language. Music truly helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development is very important. My students enjoy listening to music and have learned so much through songs. These instruments will give my children the opportunity to create their own music dance beat. Music will help my students learn words, increase their language skills, and enhances their social and emotional learning. Every single day we dance all around the classroom while listening to all different genres of music. The colorful scarves will be used while we dance to the music. This music project will certainly give my students the joy of music in such fun way.
