My Project

Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, creativity, and confidence that music can provide. In our school, students with disabilities participate in music instruction alongside their peers, but many need additional supports and specialized materials to fully engage in lessons and express their musical abilities. We are lucky enough to have a wonderful music teacher at our school, but our students only get to have formal music class once a week.

Students with diverse learning needs often benefit from hands-on instruments, visual supports, adaptive equipment, sensory-friendly materials, and interactive resources that accommodate a variety of physical, cognitive, communication, and sensory challenges.

These supplemental materials help transform music from a passive experience into an active, meaningful opportunity for learning and self-expression. We will use these materials when listening to stories and learning to read, as well!

Project Goals: Through this project, students will:

1.) Actively participate in music activities using adaptive and accessible materials.

2.) Develop rhythm, listening, and musical expression skills.

3.) Improve collaboration and social interaction with peers.

4.) Build confidence through successful musical experiences.

5.) Experience greater independence and engagement during music instruction.

By investing in accessible music education, you are helping students discover their strengths, build meaningful connections, and experience the joy of making music. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to be heard, valued, and successful.
