Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As I start a new position this year, I want to make sure my future students are provided for in every way possible, and that includes having quality instruments. Due to budget shortfalls especially with the arts, DonorsChoose provides an amazing avenue for educators to bring the very best to children in need.
My students don't live in a wealthy area and deserve only the best which I plan on helping them receive through DonorsChoose.
I've had a lot of success at my other schools through this great organization and will continue to bring high-quality instruments to students in need.
My Project
Recorder is an instrument we can all remember playing back in the day. It was loud, squeaky, and sometimes even musical. It's the first wind instrument students get to play besides their voices and sets them up for success when they reach middle school. The learning possibilities are endless! From rhythms to teamwork, recorder is instrument every music room needs.
I don't have any recorders for my music room and desperately need them for my students.
These instruments are an essential part to a basic inventory of equipment every music room needs to have, and I'm hoping Donors Choose super givers can help.
For this project, I'm starting with about half what I need: 50 brand new recorders in cases that I can number and assign to every 4th grader and use for several months out of the school year. They'll be washed at the end of the year and be ready for the next batch of 4th graders who arrive in the fall. They're never taken home and will remain at school to ensure their safety and longevity.
How many students will be impacted? Hundreds if not thousands in the coming years. That's how durable and well-made these instruments are and are guaranteed to change the course of their learning in music class.
