Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of curiosity and talents that can unlocked by giving them different ways and opportunities to display them.
I have noticed a positive change in engagement when given multiple ways to show a learned musical concept.
We are a Title I elementary school full of students from diverse backgrounds. About 99% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
I would like to show my students how technology can be incorporated in music and introduce them to the world of production and creation of loops, beats, and audio. Many of them already listen to genres that use these methods, so I believe this is a great way to awaken and nourish their talents.
My Project
It is important for music to be reproduced as faithfully as possible.
If there is a weak, outdated, and low-quality sound system in a classroom, the students will not be able to perceive music in its full force, and it can cause a negative experience for them.
I have some students who can benefit from working in a more private setting, and headphones are a tool that let this happen.
I would like to provide my students with a technology station where they can explore alternate sounds that they would not necessarily be able to achieve through acoustic instruments. The Novation Launchpad is a great looping tool for beats and sounds that many of my students have already experienced through genres that they like (hip hop, rap, pop). This will give them an opportunity to recreate and explore this world hands on.
Another important aspect of growth of any musician is to be able to share what they have composed. The KRK monitor speakers are high quality speakers that will allow my students to present to their classmates their creations.
I am positive that by providing my students with technology that allows them to experience music in multiple ways, we are awakening curiosity and nurturing creativity.
